The ground has been broken and the trucks are on site. Geocon’s south-side development Aspen Village is officially underway and on track for residents to move in at the start of 2022.
“We’re very excited about commencing Aspen Village,” says corporate affairs manager Elliot Woods of Geocon.
“At 11,000 square metres, it’s one of the biggest single stage excavations Geocon has ever undertaken – it’s a lot of dirt to move.”
But moving mountains is exactly what inspired Aspen Village in the first place, in particular the snow-capped mountains of the Brindabellas which put on a spectacular display throughout the past winter.
At Canberra’s most southern urban outpost, Aspen Village promises city living with an alpine lifestyle – a base to blaze new trails and make your own tracks where adventure still exists, pandemic or no pandemic.
The bulk of the mountain-turned-building is made up of a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
As you make your way up to The Summit, you’ll discover the Alpine Bathhouse – a place to relax and recharge with 24/7 access to three private indoor and outdoor spa rooms and a luxe 12-person sauna that overlooks Lake Tuggeranong.
You might stop off to indulge here, or you might continue your trek to the rooftop where you’ll be rewarded with jaw-dropping views and a luxurious rooftop entertaining space.
At well over 2000 square metres, there’s plenty of bookable private lounge areas, barbecue and dining facilities, firepits and lawn area to enjoy. But even more enticing is the indoor-outdoor bar and heated infinity-edge pool.
At the base is The Village – a place to socialise with an array of new bars, restaurants and cafes, as well as a grocer, bottle shop and gymnasium.
“Tuggeranong hasn’t really seen amenity of this level – it’s even a step up from what we provided at our resort-style Southport development,” says Wood.
“Aspen Village is the first ever genuine mixed-use precinct in Tuggeranong. It’s an opportunity never before seen in the area. Many developments have a mix of commercial and residential opportunities, but not like this.”
And while almost everything you need is quite literally on your doorstep, adventure is sure to beckon from the south. Thankfully, given Aspen Village’s proximity to the mountains, hitting the slopes is as easy as an hour and a half drive to Jindabyne (or a quick 10 minutes to Corin Forest for the kids).
“Since releasing the development last year, we’ve found the most interest comes from those who love the south of Canberra and the amenity the development will bring,” says Wood.
“There’s also been a lot of investor interest from outside of Canberra who can see its rental potential. There’s not a lot of new stock in that area at the moment and this stock is quality.”
