Asrar Rahman is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide. He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and of the Finance & Treasury Association.
His more than 20 years’ experience in corporate treasury includes working for 14 years at Woolworths Group, which he joined in 2003. After his appointment as its Group Treasurer in 2005, Rahman steered the company through a diverse range of capital raisings, including syndicated loans, domestic and international senior bond deals and domestic hybrid issues.
His high-level financial and capital raising skills and willingness to put his own stamp on transactions and propose changes resulted in Woolworths Group achieving significant cost benefits and access to unique markets. This experience is now enhancing Geocon’s rapidly expanding activities across its residential, hospitality and investment portfolios and its capacity to deliver on its vision of Building Canberra.
Rahman joined Geocon as Group Treasurer in March 2018 and manages its growing capital and funding requirements, including group financial risk and insurance. This involves upgrading the systems and processes underpinning these activities and providing cash flow forecasting, cash management activities, financial investment analysis and business cases as well as critical input to project and group debt restructuring.
