GEOCON has added to its stable of world-class collaborators, bringing on board global house music and remix duo The Aston Shuffle to consult on sound and music for its Midnight development, located in Braddon, in the heart of Australia’s national capital.

In a bold, new concept for the delivery of building sound quality, music selection and ambience, The Aston Shuffle’s Vance Musgrove and Mikah Freeman will channel their Canberra roots to bring their unique skills and sound to transform Midnight’s functional spaces into a luxurious and sensory environment.

Midnight promises to bring a lifestyle to Braddon that isn’t far removed from somewhere like New York or London,” says Musgrove.

“It’s pretty incredible how fast and how much Braddon has evolved over the past few years. Melbourne and Sydney thrive on these little cultural hubs that have an eclectic mix of cafes, bars, restaurants and retailers sitting right on the doorstep of a sought-after residential area.

“Canberra has been crying out for a neighbourhood like this for a really long time. The city needs visionary developers to help grow its status as a global city and we see GEOCON’s work with Midnight as a huge contribution towards this.”

The Aston Shuffle has worked closely with the Midnight design team to optimise the acoustic and entertainment experiences for residents and visitors, creating the ideal sound configurations for the residential apartments and hotel rooms. They will also curate music and sound installations featured in Midnight’s public spaces.

“Music plays a crucial part in a modern lifestyle,” Musgrove says. “Music used to be something people consumed as a product, something we bought in a physical format, in bricks and mortar stores. In 2017, we carry devices that put millions of albums at our fingertips 24/7, completely on demand, and so music and sound have become more deeply ingrained in our lifestyles than ever before. When done well, music and sound fit seamlessly into a modern home no matter what the mood.”

GEOCON’s General Manager Development Peter Micalos said working with The Aston Shuffle was the latest example of GEOCON partnering with world-leading collaborators to deliver the highest level of amenity to its developments.

“Being able to collaborate with The Aston Shuffle on the Midnight project will add something truly special to the ambience of this development, as have our other world-renowned collaborators on previous projects including Jamie Durie, Tetsuya Wakuda, Fender Katsalidis Architects, OCULUS Urban Design and Matt Blatt.

“And, to further enhance the sensory experience at Midnight, we have partnered with global digital home sound experts, Sonos, to deliver exquisite sound in every space in the development.”
