Abode Hotels has announced plans to build a new 61-room hotel in Kingston.

Abode lodged an application to the ACT government this week to redevelop a 900m2 site on the corner of Kennedy and Eyre streets, near the Old Kingston shops and popular eateries like Jones & Co.

Designed by Stewart Architecture, the hotel will add to the list of developments helping revitalise the Old Kingston area.

If the hotel is given the green light, Abode is planning for a late-2018 opening.

This will be the brand’s fifth hotel in Canberra, with plans to expand into Braddon and Belconnen as part of GEOCON’s Midnight and Republic precincts (respectively).

Abode has also set its sights on establishing a 52-room hotel in Murrumbateman, NSW.
