MIDNIGHT A MAGNET FOR INTERNATIONAL OPERATORS
Midnight a magnet for international operators
The release of Geocon’s 5-star Midnight Hotel earlier this month is attracting strong international interest as Canberra’s hotel market continues to surge.
Located on Northbourne Avenue in Braddon, the 200-room hotel will offer a variety of high-quality guest facilities including a distinct restaurant & café, bar, gym, sauna, conference and meeting rooms, and an indoor infinity edge swimming pool. The hotel’s central atrium will play host to eye catching artworks and design pieces in keeping with its industrial chic setting.
“With international and interstate visitors to the ACT at an all time high, we need to make sure that the quality of our hotel stock is keeping up with the demands of guests” said Geocon Managing Director, Nick Georgalis. “This is even more important for developments along Northbourne Avenue where we expect Midnight will be the benchmark by which other developments are judged.
The Midnight Hotel is part of a larger mixed-use precinct that was approved by the ACT Government in October 2017. Once complete, Midnight will also include 2,500m2 of commercial space, 250 apartments, public and private car spaces and a public courtyard. Designed by world-renowned Fender Katsalidis Architects and Oculus Urban Design, Midnight has already proven to be extremely popular with the broader market with only 10 apartments left for sale, reinforcing the appeal of inner-city living in the ACT. “Braddon is now arguably Canberra’s most popular entertainment and dining destination for visitors and locals alike and we are excited to be leading the next wave of development,” Mr Georgalis said. “With light rail just around the corner, we are expecting this trend to continue for many years to come.
