Construction of the administration building and light rail depot off Flemington Road where Canberra Metro’s carriages will be stored and maintained has largely complete along with the stabling tracks that lead to them, according to Transport Canberra’s latest light rail construction update issued on 6 March.

Since December, the depot’s access to Flemington road has been completed along with the laying of 13 kilometres of track slab. Work to install power poles along the route and erect the first four stops – Gungahlin, Marcus Clarke Crescent, Mapleton Avenue and Nullarbor Avenue – is now set to begin.

Geocon’s Midnight project will be one minutes’ walk from the Elouera Street stop, the twelfth along the line of stage one, which will run between Gungahlin town centre and the city.

Transport Canberra says Canberrans and visitor will start to see revegetation taking place in the completed areas of the project. Watch the March 2018 light rail construction update. For the latest news on traffic conditions around the project, visit Canberra Metro.
