General Manager – Construction
Damon is responsible for Canberra’s largest construction operation, counting upwards of 450 fulltime staff and 1,500 contractors as part of his team.
As Canberra’s foremost mind on large-scale building and construction, Damon’s daily grind requires him to maintain the balance on millions of dollars in machinery, operations and materials each day.
At Republic alone, during 2019 Damon’s team poured more than 22 Olympic swimming pools of concrete, shifted 380,000 tonne of dirt, laid 720km of electrical cabling over more than 210,000-man hours. Republic is just one of 13 projects currently under Damon’s control, making the numbers he deals with each day, enormous.
By 2023, Damon will have overseen the release of enough residential, commercial and hotel space to redefine Canberra as an emerging global city. Some of these achievements include:
More than 19,000m2 of commercial space, which equates to almost 5 acres across the ACT About 4,500 apartments across all areas of Canberra, including Woden, Tuggeranong, Gungahlin, Belconnen, the city, Kingston, Molonglo Valley, the inner north and Braddon Almost 4,000 hotel rooms across 10 venues, including luxury offerings in Kingston, the city and BartonHundreds of car parks and high-end retail precincts
Geocon’s total construction operation is a lot for one man to be across. It’s not surprising to learn Damon is constantly furthering his own knowledge, with six degrees and diplomas under his belt in business, construction and management.
