A Geocon-Zapari joint venture in Woden has smashed the ACT record for the most sales signed up in one night.

At a special sales event on Thursday night, buyers snapped up $100 million worth of property including a $1.5 million penthouse, in the Grand Central Towers development to be constructed at 15 Bowes Street, Woden.

“We knew there was strong interest as we prepared to bring this development to market, but this result has exceeded even our expectations,” Geocon Managing Director Nick Georgalis said.

“Selling 250 units including a penthouse and 100 percent of the commercial spaces is a phenomenal outcome, not just for us, but for the whole of Woden. It’s the true start of Woden’s renaissance.”

Grand Central Towers’ proximity to light rail was a key factor in the property’s appeal.

“Buyers love that Woden is all about living in a central location with fantastic amenities and multiple transport options. This development has been designed to integrate as a transport hub specifically with light rail, and people immediately see the potential,” Zapari Managing Director Nick Skepev said.

“We had a vision to be at the forefront of Woden’s rejuvenation and to transform the Woden we know today, and the number of sales tonight leaves us in no doubt that buyers share that vision. It is a fantastic result.”

Grand Central Towers is a $200 million development consisting of 429 apartments across two towers, 18 and 26 storeys, with retail at ground level. The towers are being sold by Geocon’s inhouse sales team and built by Geocon’s inhouse construction team. Building works will commence this year with first residents moving in by late 2020.
